A candidate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or who has appeared for the final year examination (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Zoology), Agriculture, Ayurved, Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, Technology, Veterinary Sciences from a statutory university.

Which is the Qualifying Exam?

ATMA scores obtained after appearing for ATMA exam on December 8, 2013 or February 16, 2014 or May 25, 2014 will be considered for admission. However the department may include, through a notification to that effect, at an appropriate stage, any other examination conducted by ATMA or any other such examination deemed appropriate by the department.

How is the Selection Done?

Step 1: Candidates seeking admission to this program for the academic year 2014 should have appeared for the ATMA exams on above mentioned dates. ATMA score obtained after appearing for ATMA exam on any one of the above dates will be considered for admission.

How to register for GD/PI at PUMBA?

The registration process for GD/PI has to be done online; website www.pumba.in. The prospectus and application form can be obtained after online registration.

What is the fee structure?
The candidates will have to secure their admission by paying full fees during counseling. The demand draft of any Nationalized Bank, should be drawn in the favor of ‘The Registrar’, University of Pune, payable at Pune Fees for Open category Candidates Rs 65,000/-per year**

Fees for Other Backward Class category (OBC) Candidates Rs 32,500/-per year**

However, upon obtaining admission, the candidates of all reserved category (belonging to the State of Maharashtra) shall fulfill the necessary formalities for scholarship provided by the state government, which is subject to the guidelines and rules of State Government of Maharashtra.

**The fee structure at PUMBA is under revision. The applicants will be informed at the time of GD/PI about the revised fees.
When is the GD/PI scheduled?
The GD/PI is scheduled from June 4, 2014 onwards. The batch-wise details (Date, Time & Batch Number of GD/PI Test) will be available on department’s website (www.pumba.in) and notice board from May 27, 2014.
What certificates & other documents are required for GD/PI?

The candidates will have to produce the following original certificates and documents before presenting himself / herself for the GD and PI Test.
a. Photo Identity Card.
b. Original ATMA score card.
c. Statement of marks and passing certificates for SSC (Tenth Standard)
d. Statement of marks and passing certificates for HSC (Twelfth Standard)
e. Statement of marks for Bachelor’s / Master’s degree Examination.
f. Bachelors / Master’s Degree Certificates
g. Domicile and Nationality Certificate
h. Caste Certificate (only for candidates belonging to reserved category of State of Maharashtra)

When will the Merit list be displayed?

Merit list will be displayed on the website (www.pumba.in) and on the department Notice board on June 16, 2014 by 5 PM. No communication will be made to the candidates separately.

M. Sc M. Phil Ph. D Admission in Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) Mumbai 2014

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) invites applications for admission to the following programmes:

1. M.Sc. (Economics): This is a two-year programme commencing in August 2014.

Eligibility: Minimum qualification for admission to M.Sc. programme include one of the following degrees or their equivalents: B.A./B.Sc. in Economics/B.Com./B.Stat./B.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics)/B.Tech./B.E. with at least a second division for Economics discipline and first division for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level.
Need-based scholarships are available to Masters students as per Institute’s norms.

2. M.Phil./Ph.D. (Development Studies): These are interdisciplinary programmes commencing in August 2014. The duration of M.Phil.programme is two years and that of Ph.D. programme is four years.

Eligibility: Minimum qualification for admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D. programme include one of the following degrees or their equivalents: M.A./M.Sc in
Economics/M.Stat./M.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E./B.Tech./B.E. with at least 55%

Stipend: M.Phil./Ph.D. students receive a monthly stipend of Rs.17,000/- in the first two years. Those students, who fulfill the terms and conditions for Ph.D. registration, would receive a monthly stipend of Rs.26,000/- after Ph. D. registration in the third year.

Selection Procedure: All candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in a Online test and an interview. The Online test will be separate for M.Sc. and M.Phil/Ph.D. candidates. “Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility latest by 31st October 2014. In case any candidate fails to submit the defined eligibility certificates by due date, he/ she will not be able to continue his/her studies at IICD. In such cases, the semester tuition fee will not be refunded, however, the admission will be valid for the next year with the new semester fees provided the defined eligibility is obtained.”

Admission Guidelines for Foreign Nationals / NRI Category

  • The Foreign Nationals / NRI candidates seeking admission to IICD must have required qualifications similar or equivalent to that required for Indian Candidates. The admission of Foreign Nationals / NRI candidates in various UG/ PG/ Certificate programmes of IICD is based on certain guidelines: The candidates selected under this category would need to obtain a valid residential permit or student visa for the prescribed duration of the programme and / or any other condition required as per the law of land (Government of India).
  • The medium of instruction at IICD is English and all aspirants applying to IICD are expected to possess working knowledge of English language.

25% of seats are reserved for students who are domicile residents of Rajasthan.

ELIGIBILITY : Master’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or any branch of Physical or Biological or Engineering Sciences or B.Tech.(Biotechnology/Bioengineering/allied qualifications) with atleast 55% marks.

XI. CENTRE FOR SANSKRIT STUDIES

(A) M.PHIL./PH.D. IN SANSKRIT

ELIGIBILITY: Master’s degree in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy and Cognate Areas/Disciplines with 55% marks; or 60% in any ranch of natural science.

(Category-B) ADMISSION OF JRF HOLDERS TO M.PHIL./PH.D. AND PRE-PH.D./PH.D. PROGRAMME IN SCIENCE SCHOOLS

JNU admits a limited number of candidates to M.Phil./Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D. programmes on the basis of viva-voce who have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF in Schools of Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer & Systems Sciences and Computational and Integrative Sciences. ELIGIBILITY: Only those candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for admission of candidates to M.Phil./Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D. programmes through Entrance Examination under category A above in above Science Schools and have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF are eligible to apply.

(Category-C) PART-TIME PROGRAMMES

JNU will hold Entrance Examination (in Delhi Centre only) for admission to Certificate of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu a one-year Part-Time Programmes of Study in the School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies. Since these are Part-Time programmes, these are intended for candidates residing in Delhi NCR only. Admission to Diploma of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma of Proficiency will be made on basis of the past academic record of the candidate which will be assessed in accordance with the criteria laid down by JNU for selection.

PROGRAMMES OF STUDY :

1) Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu, 2) Advanced Diploma of Proficiency in Pushto, 3) Diploma of Proficiency in Pushto and Bahasa Indonesia, 4) Certificate of Proficiency in Mongolian, Pushto, Bahasa Indonesia and Urdu. ELIGIBILITY: 1. Certificate of proficiency : Atleast Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate. 2. Diploma of Proficiency : Atleast Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and Certificate of proficiency in the language concerned or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto. 3. Advanced Diploma of Proficiency : Atleast Senior School Certificate (10+2) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and Diploma of Proficiency in the language concerned or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto. 4. Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu: A Bachelor’s Degree under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern of education with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate with Urdu as one of the subjects at High School or Intermediate or B.A. Level.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOREIGN NATIONALS: All foreign nationals present in India are required to appear in the
Entrance Examination subject to their fulfilling minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for Indian students as indicated under Category ‘A’ above. However, in the event of their selection, they will be considered for admission subject to equivalence of their degrees as per eligibility requirements.

RESERVATION OF SEATS : 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non creamy layer). 15% and 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programmes of study. 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates (with a minimum of 40% disability). All SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates who have passed and/or are appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examination irrespective of their percentage of marks. Besides, all candidates who have passed qualifying examination prescribed for admission to the concerned programme of study from the identified backward districts, will be eligible for deprivation points. All Kashmiri Migrants and wards/widows of certain categories of Defence Personnel will be eligible for deprivation points subject to their submitting a documentary evidence of their status (For details, refer to Chapter V of Prospectus). All female candidates
are also eligible for deprivation points. Only those candidates will be eligible for deprivation points as stated above who seek admission through Entrance Examination.

PLEASE NOTE THAT: There is a different Application Form for each Category i.e. Category ‘A’ and Category ‘C’ (Admission through Entrance Examination) and Category ‘B’ (Admission of JRF holders). Candidates should therefore clearly indicate on the self addressed envelope, the Category for which the Application Form is required by them.

For admission through Entrance Examination under Category-A above and Certificate of Proficiency (Part-Time Programme) under Category-C above, candidates can opt upto a maximum of three Fields of Study in a single Application Form for the same level of Programmes i.e. COP(Part-Time) or B.A. (Hons.) (1st Year) or M.A./M.Sc./MCA or M.Phil/Ph.D.,Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D., M.Tech./Ph.D., M.P.H./Ph.D., and are not required to submit separate Application Forms for each field of study. In case a candidate submits more than one Application Form for the same level of programmes of study, his/her candidature will be rejected. However, this restriction will not apply to candidates who apply for JRF holders to M.Phil./Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D./ Ph.D. programmes under Category-B above and Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Proficiency (Part-Time Programmes) under Category-C above. Candidates are required to submit separate Application Form for each Field of Study for admission to B.A. (Hons.) 2nd Year under category A above, JRF holders to M.Phil/Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D. under Category-B above and for Diploma and Advanced Diploma (Part-Time) programmes under Category-C above.

A candidate can apply either “Online” or “Offline”.

Online Application: Candidates can apply Online on payment of prescribed fee if they have access to a computer, a printer and Internet by logging on to JNU website www.jnu.ac.in. The sites have been designed in a ‘user friendly’ way to help candidates for applying Online in a step-by-step fashion. Online application portal will remain open from 10:00 AM (IST) on 7th February, 2013 till 5:00 PM (IST) on 23rd March, 2013.

Offline Application : Set of Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained through Post by sending crossed Bank Draft for Rs.300/- (Rs.
